A suspected rapist has been arrested by the Bauchi state Police command for allegedly defiling a 13-yer-old girl.

On Monday, 29 September, the police spokesperson in the state, DSP Haruna Mohammed, released a statement confirming the rape.

According to the statement, the 35-year-old unidentified suspect raped the girl in her house at Tambari Housing Estate in the outskirts of Bauchi.

Mohammed said the suspect had been arrested by detectives attached to the police GRA division, adding that upon medical examination, it came to light that the suspect also had assaulted the girl last year.

He also said that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation on the matter is completed.
