Another church has reportedly collapsed in Edo State with no casualties recorded. The building which belongs to the Liberty Power Bible Church Incorporated, collapsed around 1:30 pm after a heavy rainstorm on Sunday. The building which is located at Asoro Slope, off Ekenwan Road in Benin, reportedly affected a residential structure close to it.
The owner of the church, identified as Apostle Moses Erue, was said to have returned few hours after the collapse to salvage some of the church property. Ajoh Silvanus, the man whose building was affected by the collapsed church told newsmen that the church owner has been arrested by the police. He blamed the collapse on the usage of substandard building materials.
Ajor said, “I have been complaining to the pastor of this church that he was erecting the church like a fence without pillars, even the blocks were made with ordinary sand. “There were no pillars in the the main building and outer part was build with three rods.
“I complained to him several times but he refused to listen until yesterday when the building collapsed and damaged many things.
“I thank God that it did not kill anyone because one of my younger ones narrowly escaped.
“But when the pastor came around, he only concentrated on the speakers in the church. I was waiting for almost two hours, thinking that he would show concern for the damage done to my house. But he didn’t. So, I called the police to interfere.”
This is happening weeks after the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) collapse and one week after a church collapsed in Uzama Street, Off Oliha Quartres, Egor Local Government of Edo State.
