Rufus Abraham, a 28-year-old man, was today arraigned before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos. And he must be feeling like shit. Abraham was charged for assault by the police for allegedly pouring his excreta on two police officers.

He has pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge.

According to the police prosecutor, Friday Eze, Abraham defecated and poured the faeces on two police officers who demanded to know why he was collecting N1,000 from commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators. The operators had reported Abraham’s actions to the police.

When the two officers, Tunde Adeyeye and Lamidi Obanigba confronted the defendant at the New Tedi Bus Stop in Ojo on October 4, they demanded that Abraham should follow them to a nearby police station, but he walked backwards, defecated on his palms, threw it at the police officers and ran away.

Eze said that the offence contravened Section 172 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.

Abraham was granted bail by the Magistrate, T.O Shomade, in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

The matter has been adjourned to November 11.
