Sad news: Confusion at police lecture as immigration officer collapses and dies

An immigration officer who was giving a lecture in Niger State reportedly slumped and died during the event leaving the attendees in shock.

Abdulrasaq Umar Ruma, an Assistant Comptroller was making his presentation at the North Central zonal stakeholders’ consultative forum organised by the Ministry of Police Affairs when he suddenly collapsed and died.

Ruma was at the event, which held at the Justice Legbo Kutigi Conference Centre in Minna, the state capital, as a representative of the Immigration Service.

Leadership Newspaper reports:

Sources said Ruma arrived the Legbo Kutigi Centre looking hale and healthy and showed no signs of ill health before he slumped and died.

It was gathered that immediately he slumped the police high command led by the DIG training, Alhaji Atiku Kafaru; AIG Zone 7, Alhaji Suleiman Abba; and the Niger State police commissioner; Mrs Desire Nsirim, quickly mobilised and rushed him to the Minna General Hospital.

LEADERSHIP gathered that he died at the hospital where all attempts to revive him failed.

Confirming the incident the police spokesman in the state, Richard Oguche, said, “the immigration officer slumped while he was delivering his paper and we rushed him to hospital where he was confirmed dead.”

He said preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased had a case of high blood pressure and was also asthmatic.

Oguche, on behalf of the police command, commiserated with the deceased’s family for the loss which he described as painful.
