Senate majority leader, McConnell criticises Trump’s approach to legislative processes

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has expressed his criticism of some of President Donald Trump’s decision in a speech on Monday to a Rotary Group in northern Kentucky.

McConnell, a paramount staunch figure in the Senate argued that the President’s approach to the legislative process is leading to an inaccurate impression of how Congress works.

He said, “Our new president, of course, has not been in this line of work before, I think he had excessive expectations about how quickly things happen in the democratic process.”

McConnell emphasized that the Congress is working as it should and that voters need to exercise patience and allow the process to play itself out before imposing judgment.

He was quoted saying, “Part of the reason I think people think we’re underperforming is because of too many artificial deadlines unrelated to the reality of the legislature which may not have been understood.”

However, McConnell further expressed his frustration at the President’s lack of understanding of how the Congress operates. His assertion followed Trump’s tweet on July 29 chiding the Republican Senators to change rules to allow legislation to pass with only 51 votes.
