Tems latest bop, ‘These Days’ is an ode to her ‘Rebel Gang’ and we love it


One of the most promising Nigerian singers right now is undoubtedly Tems. With her melancholic sounds that place fans in a mix of mystery and calmness, the singer is one name on many lips in Nigeria, especially in the alternative music scene.

The alternative music singer, however, had feature projects with American singer, Khalid with Davido on ‘Know Your Worth’ and a feature with Odunsi on ‘Decided.’

While dedicating the single to her fans, they have taken to various platforms to talk about the singer and her style of music as many has even compared her to A-listers in the Nigerian music scene and in the alternative music genre.

Tems became mainstream in the music scene after the visuals for her 2019 song, Try Me, a project that made her push through the faces of many Nigerians and music lovers, her 2018 song, Mr. Rebel was also nominated for Best Vocal Performance (Female) and Best Alternative Music at the Headies Award, 2019 with no wins.

In her new song, Tems is seeking assurance for love as she shares how hard it is to find loyalty and trust in love. These days incites melancholy and was delivered on the level the singer is best known for.

Her Rebel Gang also came through for her as they reacted to the lyrics of the song and tagging it very relatable to the times and season – ‘And these days are made from the pain, These nights are not full of stars…’ parts of her chorus resounds as she clearly sings about heartbreak and pain, which undoubtedly is very relatable. Fans also shared that These days have already bagged over 2.6k streams after 19 hours of the release of the song.

Tems has also shared one of her latest achievement on her Instagram page as she pointed out that she has been added as one of YouTube Foundry Artists. A category that celebrates new acts with promising talents. With her new song, the artist has shown that she has listened to her fans who had been yearning for another song after ‘Try Me’ was hit.

Fans are yet to, however, request for an album and while Tems is still up and coming, her resilience, international recognition, and dedication to her craft may just be all she needs to put her face to the rest of the world that is yet to hear her sound.
