[The Activism Blog] GLEEHD Foundation to host Emerging Political Leaders Forum in South East, South South

After a successful outing at the first edition of its Emerging Political Leaders Forum in Lagos on the 7th of September 2017, The Governance, Leadership, Economic, Environmental and Human Development (GLEEHD) foundation has concluded plans to host another of such event in the south-south and the south east region of Nigeria on 18th November and 24th November 2017 respectively.

According to the organisers, panelist which cuts across various experienced politicians will discuss among other topics Understanding the Run of play in your constituency and winning against the run of play, Not too young but too broke to run: funding and financing your campaign, Politics 101: Managing party stakeholders and leaders for new entrant interested in winning party tickets among others.

This program which is expected to hold across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria aims to sensitise the youth ahead of the 2019 general elections and to increase youth participation in the political process.

The programme also has the capacity to help in no small means to mobilise support for the #NotTooYoungToRun bill which is presently before State Assemblies in Nigeria and needs the positive approval of at least 24 states in the country to make it a viable law before the 2019 general elections to open a door of opportunity for youth interested in Political Participation.

The leadership Summit which is free for intending attendees will also help to reawaken Nigerian youth on their role in Nation building which is currently left in the hands of the elders which has given rise to the continuous recycling of old hands which has further slowed down development in the country.

The general consensus is that youth participation in Political Process will engender growth and development of our nation hood which the GLEEHD Foundation is championing.
