[The Injustice Blog] The surrounding controversy of Tagbo’s death

Everyday on the Nigerian cyberspace, there is always a story to feed on. It comes in form of threads, callouts, twitter stories among others.

On Wednesday, October 3, 2017, the Nigerian cyberspace was once again set on fire.

This time around, the fire was ignited by popular Nollywood actress Caroline Danjuma. The actress alleged that her brother, Tagbo Umeike died in the company of artiste, David Adeleke “Davido” while partying in the wee hours of Tuesday, October 2, 2017.

The call out from her Instagram handle which she later pulled down reads:

“Davido where is Tagbo …. he was with you and ur crew last night … you all wore face cap to hide your identities after he died in ur car. u dumped him at general hospital and ran away … the law must play its role this time .. you all better provide Tagbo alive.

@davidoofficial. After you all abandoned him at the general hospital you continued your stupid grooving at DNA and had the nerves to promote ur show .. this ain’t no ordinary boy you can intimidate his family … we need you to tell us how he died in ur car and why u ran away. the police and the hospital confirmed u all ran away .. if u think ur money can save u, u just met ur match. Promise.”

Davido has since rebuffed the allegations. However, things are not adding up in the story which we will point out in the course of this article.

One, Danjuma accused Davido and his crew of dropping the late Tagbo at the general hospital and left. She expressly stated that the late Tagbo is not a heavy drinker.

Two, it was alleged that Tagbo was at Shisha room (an upscale club at Lekki) that night with Davido and he was drunk according to information supplied by Linda Ikeji on her blog.

Three, Linda Ikeji posted some videos she got from an anonymous source to prove the late Tagbo was drunk and what she described as “his last moment”. Isn’t it interesting that none of the videos showed Tagbo drinking other than exchanging banters with friends.

Four, a photographer named Victor Elejo also posted a video to “nail his point” that the late Tagbo was drunk but in his own videos too, the young man was not captured drinking other than friends hailing his name in a beer parlour characteristic manner. And even if he later drank alcohol, that doesn’t answer the questions surrounding his death because he was not involved in an accident.

Five, it was stated that the late Tagbo left the club with Davido’s crew in his own personal car but didn’t follow them to DNA club which was Davido’s next destination. The late Tagbo’s car which is now at lion building police station was not involved in an accident.

Now, these are questions begging for answers. What happened to him after leaving the club as he drove himself? who took him to the Hospital? Who was with him in the car? what killed him? is there a CCTV at the hospital that can shed more light on this controversy? Until these controversies are resolved and an autopsy conducted on him, Tagbo’s death is still questionable.
