The All Progressives Congress has confirmed former Edo Governor, Adams Oshiomhole as its National Chairman on Saturday.

Oshiomhole and 18 others were returned unopposed after a voice affirmation by party members in an announcement made by the Chairman of the 2018 Convention Committee and Governor of Jigawa State, Mohammed Badaru.

The former National Labour Leader replaces the outgoing chairman of the party, John Oyegun, who also hails from Edo State after Oserhemen Osunbor, Clement Ebri, and Ibrahim Emokpaire who were initially in the race stepped down for him.

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the unresolved cases the All Progressives Congress (APC) was going through is a price the party will have to pay for success. 

The President who made this known at the ongoing APC convention holding at the Eagle square in Abuja, maintained that ‘despite the lingering issues with the congresses in some states, the party will emerge stronger after this convention.”

“The unresolved cases we have is the price we have to pay for success, as everyone wants to be associated with a winning team. I am imploring all those with grievances to keep faith with the party until we put things right,” he added.

The Presidency has on Saturday said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent visit to the Kingdom of Morocco would yield positive results, including regional integration and development.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, also explained in what the Presidency titled, “President Buhari’s visit to Morocco: Six Quick Takeaways,” that the two countries entered into agreement where 150 Nigerians will be trained in moderate, modernized and non-extremist methods of Islamic leadership.

He said that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the two countries will create jobs for Nigerians through the establishment of a Basic Chemicals Platform, specifically to develop a significant Ammonia Production Plant by the Kingdom of Morocco in the Niger Delta.

The Ministry of Health in Adamawa on Saturday confirmed 24 more new cases of cholera in the state.

According to a statement issued by the Information Officer of the Ministry, Mohammed Abubakar, the new cases were recorded in Maiha, Mubi North and Mubi South Local Government Areas but no death was recorded.

It added that epidemiological summary of the cases so far as from May 1 to June 22 showed that 1,388 cases with 25 deaths were recorded in the four affected local government areas of Hong, Maiha, Mubi North and Mubi South.

At least five people have been killed and eight others injured in an attack by suspected armed men in Kuriga, a village in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna on Friday.

Spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, Mukhtar Aliyu, confirmed that gunmen stormed the village on Friday afternoon and opened fire on worshippers inside a mosque while they were observing their prayers, adding that the bandits fled into the nearby bush before the arrival of security operatives.

The armed bandits were also said to have carted away over 80 cows from the villagers, who are predominantly herders and farmers.
