President Muhammadu Buhari has on Friday restated the commitment of his administration to the rescue of the remaining Dapchi school girl, Leah Sharibu and the other Chibok school girls still being held captive by Boko Haram Insurgents.

I want to use this opportunity to reassure the world, Nigerians and the families of the remaining kidnapped Chibok girls and Leah Sharibu of the Dapchi School girls that this administration will not relent in our efforts to see that they are all released,” he said while speaking at the Nigerian Army Day celebration 2018 in Monguno, Borno.


The Nigeria Police has dismissed the Policeman who killed a Youth Corp member, Miss Linda Angela Igwetu in Abuja on Wednesday night.

FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Sadiq Bello who disclosed this at a press briefing on Friday in Abuja said the policeman, Benjamin Peters has been arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction and is awaiting trial, while appealing for calm and understanding from members of the public and the family of the deceased.


The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki on Friday said his acquittal by the supreme court on the charges of false assets declaration brought against him by the Federal Government has further strengthened his belief in Nigeria.

 Saraki who recounted his tortuous journey of 1018 Days of litigations, said the case was trumped up in the first instance because of his emergence as the President of the Senate against the wishes of certain forces, adding that the outcome gladdened his heart and further strengthened his belief in the country.


The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) says active mobile telephone lines in Nigeria has increased to 162 million.

Samarn Poonan, 38, a former member of Thailand’s elite navy SEAL unit, died on Thursday night as he worked underwater in the cave complex, laying oxygen tanks along a potential exit route, the SEAL commander said.

“We won’t let his life be in vain. We will carry on,” Admiral Arpakorn Yuukongkaew told reporters on Friday. (Reuters)
