“The media is the most powerful estate of the world” – Adebola Williams speaks at the #ObamaSummit

Former US President Barack Obama kicked off a two-day leadership summit held at the Marriott Marquis McCormick Place in Chicago’s South Loop neighbourhood on Monday, October 31, 2017.

He addressed 500 young people at the event, which is the first to be run by his foundation.

Obama said the summit is about sharing ideas to create lasting change.

Our goal is not to present some fixed theory of how change happens,” Obama said during the opening session. “This is a big brainstorming session,” he said.

Participating in a discussion about philanthropy and youth engagement, Prince Harry spoke about the importance of giving back.

He said, “you’re immediately born with privilege and spend the rest of your life paying back that privilege.

Speaking on the second day of the event, RED Co-founder, Adebola Williams talked about the importance of the citizenry in the reins of affairs of governance.

He said, “The media is the most powerful estate in the world” – it shapes and defines, changes society.

Williams ended his statement with a very important line, “The highest office of the land is not the office of the president, it is that of the citizen.
