The Senate wants Ibadan Airport renamed after Ajimobi and here are the reactions

Ever noticed that there are lot of monuments and street names all over the world with human names? This global practice arose from a need to honor some of society’s most decorated heroes after their demise. In many cases, the level of impact by the individual to the development of their immediate community and sometimes beyond, influences the nature of ‘immortalisation’ they get.

Nigeria is no different and has key places of public interest as Murtala Mohammed Airport, Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport, Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, Obafemi Awolowo University and so many others as examples. This is no doubt why Nigerians on Twitter today are reacting passionately to the news that the Senate is considering the renaming of the Ibadan Airport after deceased former Oyo Governor, Abiola Ajimobi.

For many, it is difficult to identify his legacies as Governor that would justify such huge honour. They were vehement in making a case against the move.

While some feel it should not be a priority for the Senate at this time..
