These are the things to expect at the 13th edition of The Future Awards Africa

The 2018 edition of the biggest youth award in Africa – The Future Awards Africa – is almost here and, while you anticipate the new list of #Nigeria’sNewTribe, you might want to know how things will unfold that day – December 16, 2018.

But, before we go on with the details, let’s do a throwback.

Yes, this year’s edition started with the call for nominations; that ended October 31, 2018.

From that, we moved to the unveiling of the nominees, which includes footballer, Ahmed Musa; actor, Adesua Etomi; social media comedian, Maraji and a host of others.

It did not end there.

The Central Working Committee of The Future Awards Africa then decided to honour some young people whose names have recurred through the year, indeed young people who have done innovative things. This list includes Davido, Samson Itodo, Tomi Adeyemi, Nemitari Ajienka, and Dr Mahmoud Maina.

The excitement gained some more ground when former Big Brother Naija housemate, Tobi Bakre and media personality, Bolanle Olukanni were unveiled as the official hosts of the event.

Meanwhile, we were not going to leave you wondering what you will wear for the red carpet, especially since it says ‘glam with a touch of culture’. So, Denola Grey, Ini Dima-Okojie and Mimi Onalaja had a Style Guide session.

And, while everyone thought it was over, that we all just had to wait for December 16; the British Council hosted the nominees. What a wow!

Yeah, you right, that is some journey.

Anyway, December 16 – the day when the new tribe will be awarded – is just two days away or is it less? And, you cannot be too excited about this.

13 years no be beans and so, expect to see a new tribe of young people – maybe your favourites – emerge as winners.

You will not only see the 20 winners (from a list of 100 nominees) receive the beautifully designed ‘black and gold’ award on stage, but you will get to interact with them and ask them how their journey has been; maybe also understand how you can JUST DO IT.

Come expectant. Ready to see Nigeria’s rich heritage, from the music to the aesthetics to the food. It sure promises to be quite an experience.

Oh! Before we go. Some of your favourite artistes will be there to perform including Mr Eazi, Teni the Entertainer, Ric Hassani, Yemi Alade, Timi Dakolo and more.

It is starting at 5 pm and the venue is Balmoral Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Official hashtags for this year’s awards is #TFAA2018 and #NigeriasNewTribe.
