This is poverty alleviation in #Borno, Governor Shettima-style (LOOK)

by Kolapo Olapoju

Going by Governor Shettima’s example, poverty is not only alleviated by building infrastructures, creating employment, ensuring citizenry’s welfare, and other similar nation building activities.

Apparently, poverty can be somewhat reduced by “just sharing money to people”.

Infrastructure

The President of the World Bank, Jim Yong Kim, once said, “To end extreme poverty, the vast numbers of the poorest – those earning less than $1.25 a day – will have to decrease by 50 million people each year until 2030.”

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state is certainly contributing his quota into ensuring that the number of poor people in Nigeria decreases, as he was recently photographed sharing money to children who were more than eager to recieve.

According to the apex bank’s ‘world poverty index’, Nigeria is ranked third among the countries that has the largest number of poor people, accounting for 7% of the world’s poorest.

Scenes like this only serves as justification for such statistics.
