A newborn baby has been suffocated to death and her death has been ruled a homicide. The 3-week old baby girl was found to be unresponsive in her Chicago home. No arrests have been made, but child welfare authorities are investigating the baby’s mother and grandmother.
Emonie Beasley-Brown died of suffocation, according to the official coroner’s report for the Cook County Medical Center in Chicago. The girl’s 14-year old mother had been reported missing at the time of the child’s death.
The baby’s nose started bleeding after she’d been suffocated. The person took the baby to an ally and handed her off to someone else. That’s when a call was made to 911. When paramedics arrived on the scene, the baby was dead.
The child was taken to the hospital and her mother was taken away in a police car. The child died from “prolonged cardiac arrest” and a lack of oxygen to the brain.
