Nicki Minaj may not be American Idol bound after all and Pepsi is to blame. Not so fast. The “Moment For Life” rapper inked a deal with Pepsi earlier this year, which puts her in direct conflict of interest with their competitor, Coca Cola. Coca Cola is a sponsor of American Idol. This is not uncommon in the Entertainment Industry.
Although, a fresh new young face for the show would in fact boost ratings, it simply cannot happen at this time. As an entertainer, when you sign a deal with a brand, you become their walking advertisement. Her odds may be better with Pepsi, which has been a lasting figure in pop culture for over forty years.
By signing the deal with Pepsi, she proves that she is a lasting force to be reckoned with. It only stands to strengthen her brand, that much more, being that some major celebs have proceeded her in the Pepsi parade, the biggest being Michael Jackson. Not to mention that the PepsiCo corporation, which Pepsi is under, has all types of famous brands that Nicki’s face can be put on. Staying with Pepsi could even make her more likable to other age groups. Stick with Pepsi, Minaj and let the ones that need a career boost take the small potatoes.
