TICKER: Should a man (or woman) “of God” engage in pre-marital sex? Join the debate

People who do not identify themselves as Christians or people who believe in God often look at Christians and believers and say that they are very hypocritical. The subject of hypocrisy often centers around whether or not people who say they believe in God and live their lives according to the word of God should be engaging in pre-marital “relations”.

Some argue that people who call themselves men and women of God are only “Godly” until the lights go off and then they throw their beliefs out of the window and follow their flesh.

We asked the question, “Can you call yourself a man or woman of God and still engage in frequent pre-marital “relations”?” on our Facebook Page and the responses are as follows: ( Feel free to respond to the question yourself.)

”You can call yourself that but you have a sin that you need deliverance from.”

“I don’t like how people hide behind the fact that God will forgive, he forgives those that fall weak to certain desires, but when you intentionally sin everyday whether its fornication or adultery, you’re fooling yourself not him, he knows the heart”

“No one can judge whether or not someone else is a man or woman of God simply by the one thing. Not condoning fornication, mind you, but there are a lot worse things out there a person can do, and we see “Christians” who do these every day. What about a man or woman of God who judges, who gossips, who gets into fights with everyone, who overeats, who is quick tempered, who is jealous and shows it, one who disobeys their parents, one who is ungrateful for things? who is mean and abusive to their children, one who doesn’t put in a full day’s work for a full day’s pay, one who steals pencils from the office, one who makes fun of others, one who doesn’t feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give drink to the thirsty, visit the imprisononed, treat the foreigner in his/her land right, and most importantly one who doesn’t love his/her neighbor as him/herself (the Greatest Commandment)?”

“no excuses! NO!!!!”

“No”

“NO!!!!”

“This always kills me….its like this Jesus died for our sins? Right? Then we have this flesh….just because my flesh my control me at the moment, don’t mean I don’t love Jesus….or that I’m not a woman of God. It’s my heart that God is concerned with, not my vessel. I mean if that were the case we would not have free will. No one can speak on my relationship with God. That’s between he and I.”

“David…who is in the lineage of Jesus..conceived Solomon through an extra marital relationship!”

“I would have to say NO! If you’re not convicted or sorrowful, something is wrong. Jesus came to convict the world of sin.(John 16:8,9) so if sin is a habitual lifestyle for many, then I have to question their relationship with God. if a married man habitually cheats on his wife, i would have to question his love for his spouse. likewise to the professed christian that habitually fornicates.”

“If we were perfect we would not have need of God nor His son’s death burial andbressurection. We die daily to sin as long as we live in the flesh we can and will sin by thought word or deed. As long as we live we have to WORK OUT our soul salvation. So yes you are STILL A man or woman of God… just remember HOLINESS is right amd deliverance is a process needed in one area or another in ALL OF OUR LIVES. WE R NOT …NOR WILL WE EVER BE PEREFECT…. The Bible says NONE ARE PERFECT EXCEPT ONE AND THAT IS JESUS !!!”

“Perfection is only of God. We fall down and get back up; it’s part of our walk, to be better today than yesterday. So yes, once accepted, you are always a Child of the King, faults, improvements, failures, successes, and all.”

“Black churches are the first ones to be anti gay. But when it’s s*x for “you” then there are loopholes for what you want to do. Suddenly Nobody sees fornication Scriptures. Suddenly, straight sins are forgiven. Don’t be hypocrites! Vote Yes to question 6!”

“NO! But most “Godly” folks pick and choose what to believe and follow – hypocrites!”

“Who determines premarital? While society have made it common to only award those who have permission from the government with “marriage certificates”, marriage in God’s eye is different. God is a spirit (John 4:24). Spirit (breath) to us comes through our mind. So rather than a man performing a ceremony (wedding), a government signing papers (marriage certificates) and a crowd of people being amazed with the decoration s (weddings), marriage, being spiritual, starts in the mind. The day you have made your mind up that you want to pursue life with the person you are with and they agree with you, God knows and he respects that. Marriage has nothing to do with what any man thinks. Since slavery, America has always wanted to keep track of how many black were getting married and how many children they have, to keep track of over-population. Idiotic, our community agreed and called it fornication to not let America know. They called what America calls common law marriage, shacking up. We are the only race making a big deal about life before the ceremony. We are the only one’s using the word “pre-marital”. Enough with all the unnatural restrictions, just live. God knows your thoughts.”

‘u can do anything u want when u a black christian, all u have to do is tithe & repent & go”

The answers above are mixed but a slight majority seems to lean on the simple answer: No.

  2. Pre-marital sex is a sin, and offcourss it is fornication. But it isn't a sin if the bride price have been paid.

  3. It will be a share nonsense, total decline from scriptural injunction… thou shall not fornicate. Pre-marital sex is nothing but fornication because it yet to be legal.

  4. Please what do you mean by Man or Woman of God? Or are you referring to Children of God generally? Or are you asking this question about a particular set of people?

  5. Just like I said on twitter : Sin is sin, no matter how we polish it and how enticing pop culture makes it. And pre-maritial sex is not just sin to "men of God or Women of God" but to every person who isn't married. Sin is not limited and exclusive to a particular group of people but to all. Just like stealing is stealing regardless of if its a Man of God or it is a Senator doing the stealing.

In regards to God always forgiving us when we sin, I made a post not too long ago about Taking Grace For Granted. Check it out http://www.micernest.com/are-you-taking-grace-for-grante....

  6. Its an interesten topic hope our youth will tell them selves the truth for the Bible Says "your body is the temple of God do not defile it".

  7. Absolutely NO.No excuse no story

  8. sin is sin,all sin carries equal punishment in the sight of God,according to 1cor 3 vs 16,17,per-martial sex affects ur spiritual life and brings it 2 zero level,so therefore if u are of age get married 2 avoid dis.
