Trump likely to face criticism from the military after attack on Senator Blumenthal

The latest recipient of backlash from the White House is Senator Richard Blumenthal.

Trump tweeted from his working vacation in response to a statement credited to the Senator where he voiced support on CNN for the continued investigation into Russian meddling in last year’s election and expressed concern about the Justice Department’s increased focus on rooting out administration officials who leak information damaging to the president.

Trump tweeted, “Interesting to watch Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut talking about hoax Russian collusion when he was a phony Vietnam con artist!

“Never in U.S. history has anyone lied or defrauded voters like Senator Richard Blumenthal. He told stories about his Vietnam battles and … conquests, how brave he was, and it was all a lie. He cried like a baby and begged for forgiveness like a child”.

Trump added, “I think Senator Blumenthal should take a nice long vacation in Vietnam, where he lied about his service, so he can at least say he was there.”

In response to Trump’s tweets, Blumenthal wrote on Twitter, “Mr President: Your bullying hasn’t worked before and it won’t work now. No one is above the law.”

This latest action of the President is sure to affect his popularity with military veterans who have been his major allies.
