UK visa bond: Senate rejects policy, threatens to reciprocate

Senate floor

by Isi Esene

The UK visa policy which seeks to compel visitors from ‘high risk’ countries including Nigeria to deposit 3,000 ponds bond before its immigration authority at entry point has been reportedly rejected by the Senate.

The Senate maintained that Nigeria should be removed the list.

The upper legislative chamber threatened to mete out the same treatment to UK citizens seeking entry into Nigeria if its governments insists on going ahead with the policy.

The UK government is considering forcing Nigerian citizens to make such payment after it was named as one of the countries considered to have the tendency to abuse its visa conditions.
