Nigeria’s victorious Super Falcons who win the tenth edition of the African Women’s Championship (AWCON) have arrived Lagos, Premium Times reports.
The team which beat hosts Cameroon by a lone goal touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International airport is expected to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Captain of the Falcons, Rita Chikwelu, expressed delight at the team’s victory.
“I think this is my best AWCON title so far, it evens feels like I have won the World Cup,” the Falcons skipper said on arrival from Cameroon.
Goal scorer at the final, Desire Oparanozie, said she was happy to have contributed to the team’s success.
“Of course I am happy to score in the final, we worked hard together as a team and our effort was crowned with success”.
