“We will not give up”: ‘Civilian JTF’ vows to continue engaging Boko Haram after losing 37 men in attack

In a show of resilience despite the massive loss of life that has befallen the group, the vigilante group tagged “civilian JTF” has stated that it is ready to fight tooth and nail to rid the land of Boko Haram.

The group, which operates in Borno State,is the result of civilian effort to combat the dreaded terrorist sect and it has recorded a loss of not less than 37 members to the insurgency.

Sanna Mohammed, a survivor who escaped with slight bruises, reportedly said, while at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital where he was watching over a colleague seriously injured in the Benisheik town attack in Kaga local government area, that they were determined in their mission.

Speaking in Hausa, Mohammed said, “We will not give up and will continue until we triumph over them. Yes they have killed over 37 of our members now and over 30 people missing, we will not give up. And Allah will help us to win over them.”

He also appealed for full military back up in all their operations, saying, “You see what happened last week in Monguno and today in Benisheik, there is the need for full military back so that we can get the Boko Haram people.

“We only have clubs, sticks and knives and other local weapons that are not [the equivalent of] the AK 47 rifles they are operating with. This is the burden we operating with.”

On how the Benisheik attack occurred, he said, “It was like what happened in Monguno. It was around 12 am on Sunday, that they ambushed us and instantly killed 13 of our people and injured several others.”

He confirmed that while the militants were trying to escape, the soldiers arrived and got some of them.
