Three children almost died from a fire outbreak in their home, after their mother locked them up in the apartment and went to play a midday lottery.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, 2 September, at their flat in a four-storey building, at 62, Francis Street, Onitsha, Anambra State.
A few minutes after she left the house, there was an explosion in the flat, which is at the top floor of the four-storey building.
Passers-by immediately rushed to the flat, forced open the door and rescued the three children from the raging inferno.
Upon return from her exploits, the hapless mum was at a loss for words. The cause of the fire could not explained as there had been no power supply to the area for weeks.
Fire-fighters arrived the scene much later, after sympathisers had already put out the fire.
