The Daily Vulnerable

Chude Jideonwo

There are a lot of doctrines I don’t believe in.

Some people think that there is one way to be a religious person; that there is only one way to be a Christian, a Muslim, or a Buddhist. I don’t believe that.

People believe and assume different things. One of the biggest challenges is people trying to prove they are right or more right than the other person. They believe it will make them more deserving of God’s mercy. I wish those that believe this the best of luck.

I don’t get into arguments about doctrine, but remind myself that it is possible for me to change what I believed. There was a time I believed that anybody who had sex before marriage was going to hellfire. I no longer believe that.

I had believed that people should pay tithe regularly, or shouldn’t pay tithe regularly. I had believed that people must go to church every Sunday, and that people shouldn’t go to church every Sunday. My views change constantly.

One thing that hasn’t changed is my understanding and knowing that if there is a God – I do believe there is – God loves me completely and totally. That is my gospel to any person of any faith.

I highly recommend that if you are a person who struggles with the idea of a God who loves you as you are. you can take this as a bridge. I don’t expect you to believe it tomorrow, since it took me years to believe that.

I’m not trying to convince you about a doctrine. I’m just saying take my words as a bridge, and maybe one day the conviction and the knowing will come to you too.

If there is a God, that God loves you as you are and as you will yet become.
