Court declares PDP caretaker committee illegal | Orders IGP to arrest acting chairman

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has instructed the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to arrest anybody who claims to be the acting chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) until the court decides a case brought before it.

The presiding judge, Justice Ibrahim Buba, in his ruling on the suit, with number FHC/L/CS/613/2016, brought before him by former acting national chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff; the national secretary, Adewale Oladipo; and national auditor, Fatai Adeyanju, stated that the earlier order by the court must be obeyed.

Sheriff and others had prayed the court to stop the party’s national convention pending the determination of a substantive suit that sought to extend their tenures.
