Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) leader, Gani Adams said Nigerians are expecting too much from President Muhammadu Buhari.
Adams, who was a guest on Sunday’s Rubbin Minds, said Buhari has promised a more transparent government and such is expected from him. He also added that he realizes Buhari can give a good governance despite his reservations.
“Any right thinking progressive believes in restructuring the country. Jega did serious damages to the electoral system and Nigerians will realize in the future. I agree PMB is traveling too much too soon. PMB needs to fix internal security issues before going to Chad and Niger. Nigerians want to see the Buhari they voted for. We want to know PMB’s plans on corruption, security etc,” he stated.
Adams stressed that PMB cannot fix all problems in 2 weeks but the people need to know those that will be working with him.
He also spoke on the just concluded elections, explaining that he supported former President Goodluck Jonathan because he said he is not the type that deserts his friends and that was why he supported him explaining that his support was based on ideological reasons, his support would gear him towards implementing report of national conference.
“GEJ lost the elections because Nigerians wanted change of power stating that Nigerians wanted change and they got it,” he said.
On the appointment of speaker of the National assembly, he said it is commendable that the APC organized mock primaries stating that there are forces within the APC looking to impose candidates.
“At the end of the day, only the National Assembly members can decide their leadership. PDP still has the slim chance of producing a senate president if they are united. I think that senator Lawan and Hon Gbajabiamila will emerge victorious ultimately,” he added.
