There are unconfirmed reports of a dangerous stampede involving applicants seeking employment in the Nigerian Immigration Service at the Abuja test centre.
Over 26,000 applicants were said to have stormed the Abuja National Stadium location of the test with several of them getting caught up in the stampede. Many have been rushed to the National Hospital in the city to receive proper medical attention.
Reports of six deaths are yet to be confirmed.
The Nigeria Immigration Service recruitment examinations took off in various centre around the country today. Due to the state of emergency declared in 3 states of the country, Borno applicants were required to take their exams in Gombe, Yobe applicants in Bauchi and Adamawa candidates will write their exams in Taraba.
We are yet to get any confirmation from the Immigration high command and relevant security agencies on the news of casualties at the Abuja exam centre. We will bring you more details as soon as we get them.
