Terrible: Ogun vigilante member allegedly kills man after argument

A man in Ogun State has allegedly been gunned down by an overzealous vigilante member.

Tosin Joye, described as a quiet young man by residents of Alata Mowe in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state, was shot by a yet unidentified vigilante member and subsequently died as a result of his injuries.

The Ogun State Police Command has reportedly launched investigations into the shooting and eventual killing of Joye which has caused shock among his neighbours. The family of the deceased had also been plunged into mourning, following the death of the young man.

The deceased, Joye, 24, an aluminium fabricator, was allegedly shot dead close to his home.
Witnesses claimed that Joye was at the Alata Junction, in company of his two friends on Sunday night at about 10pm, when the incident happened.

It was gathered that the vigilante man crossed over to where Joye was with his friends and demanded to know what they were doing outside, at that hour of the night.
Joye with his friends, allegedly told the guard to check his time, that it was not that late, adding that they would soon go home anyway.

An argument broke out among Joye, his friends and the guard. The guard was said to have blown his whistle to attract the attention of his colleagues who were guarding others streets.
Immediately the other guards heard the whistle, they all mobilized and came to where Joye and his friends were standing.

Suddenly, for reasons people were yet to comprehend, one of the vigilante men opened fire, shooting into the midst of Joye and his friends. One of the bullets slammed into Joye’s forehead and he died instantly on the spot.
