A clash between irate youths in the Ajah area of Lagos State has resulted in various degrees of injury for 8 people while 2 other persons were killed.

The trouble reportedly started when an argument over the right to collect tolls broke out between youth from the Ajah and Ilaje communities.

The crisis escalated into a full blown turf war as the miscreants turned on each other with cutlasses, daggers, iron rods, bottles and other dangerous weapons, and they also injured innocent citizens in the process.

Leadership Newspaper reports:

A man who identified himself as Kunle Akingbala alleged that one of the deceased identified as Oriofe Olulana was allegedly stabbed to death.

Akingbala said his corpse was also taken to the police station in the area.

Akingbala alleged that the crisis started when some hoodlums suspected to be Ilaje settlers insisted that their share in the collection of tolls and levies should be given to them.

“Police should come to the aid of the people living here. Our lives are no longer save. The Ilaje and Ajah youths are fighting over tolls collection and levies. They fought themselves with dangerous weapons such as cutlasses, daggers, iron rods, broken bottles, just name it. I even heard that one party came with gun. The Ilaje wanted their own share of the money but the Ajah youths insisted that the Ilajes are strangers and did not have any right to demand for such.” Akingbala alleged.

A man who identified himself simply as Kunle said one of the Ajah youths was killed by the Ilajes and they had to retaliate the next day (yesterday).
