A young man in Kwara is said to have lost his life after an accident involving a fuel tanker and a commercial motorcycle.

Muibi Abdulrasa, who was undergoing his compulsory service year for the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), was crushed by the tanker in the Ilesha-Baruba environs of the Baruten Local Government Area of the state.

The accident is said to have occurred after the motorcycle attempted to overtake the tanker but instead collided with a wheel barrow.

P.M. News reports:

An eyewitness account revealed that the deceased and his colleague were riding on the same commercial motorcycle when the incident occurred.

The tanker was said believed to be coming from Saki in Oyo State to dispense petrol at a filling station, while the two corps members were coming from a market in Ilesha-Baruba.

The eyewitness said the commercial motorcyclist tried to overtake the vehicle, but collided with an on-coming wheel-barrow. The motorcyclist and the other corps member fell into a nearby gutter, while the deceased fell under the moving vehicle and died on the spot.

The other two passengers suffered minor injuries. The deceased, a 2013 “Batch C” corps member, was said to be an indigene of Kwara and a graduate of Accounting from the Kwara State Polytechnic.

Ajayi Okansanmi, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Kwara State Police Command, confirmed the incident to the NAN. He said that the driver of the vehicle had been arrested and was being interrogated.
