2016 budget: DSS to spend N1.1bn on construction of office buildings

The Department of State Security (DSS), in its 2016 budget, plans to spend N1, 130, 480, 321 on the construction and provision of office buildings.

The document did not specify where the structure will be located or why it gulp such an amount of money.

The DSS, which is the foremost domestic intelligence agency in Nigeria, also budgeted to spend an additional N208, 650, 000 on the rehabilitation and repair of office buildings.

An additional N1, 511, 021 was also earmarked on what the budget called “Architectural services.”

The security agency also allocated the sum of N2,266,531,458 as security vote (including operations).

In a similar vein, the Ministry of Solid Mineral development, headed by the erstwhile governor of Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi, intends to spend a whooping N795, 234, 275 on the update of the ministry’s website.

It would be recalled that a few months ago, it was revealed that former Lagos state governor, now Minister of Works, Housing and Power, spent a jaw dropping sum of N78 million to build a personal website.
