Musician, producer, and songwriter Cobhams Asuquo, 32, gave an outstanding speech at the TEDxEuston 2012.
Reading Braille, it’s the speech good people are made of. In his gripping speech, Asuquo says; “One of the things that has fueled my ability to dream has been the gift of blindness.”
“I am a dreamer, I don’t mean that in a literal sence but that’s very nice because that’s when I get to drive and play golf,” he begins and then goes on to speak on the three lessons he learnt from blindness:
1. Do not excuse failure for any reason, on any account.
2. I decided to just trust. Sometimes even when I have no reason to. Trust has no expiration date, blindness hs taught be to trust, to hope.
3. Sight sometimes is a distraction. Sight is a precious gift but on your way to your destination what you see can also be a big distraction from your goal. You have to be blind in order to be focused.
“I have drawn some key strength in my life journey. We treat the African continent like a disabled child and excuse failure.”
