It’s the weekend people!
It has been a quiet, yet pretty decent week for the entertainment world, both home and abroad.
Although politics and sports grabbed most of the week’s headlines, the entertainment scene still had some interesting stories of your favourite celebrities- that threw the social media sphere into a frenzied state.
Here is a recap of those stories that kept everyone talking throughout the week.
- Linda Ikeji’s million-dollar luxury mansiom
Although the news broke last weekend, everyone is still talking about it till now. But just in case you’ve been under a rock, Africa’s most popular gossip blogger; Linda Ikeji acquired a luxury home reportedly worth over $3million dollars (N500 million upwards in Naira) in the highbrow area of Banana Island, Ikoyi.
Her sister Laura Ikeji first posted the pictures of two storey house after which Linda confirmed that the property was worth well over N500 million.
She posted more pictures of the house on Monday alongside an inspiring article to encourage ladies to be self-made rather than waiting on men to satisfy their needs.
2. 2face Idibia is immortalized as biography gets launched
This happened on Tuesday, October 20, as Nigerian Afro Pop legend; 2face Innocent Idibia flanked by wife Annie and 1-year old daughter, Olivia, got honoured as a book on him was launched at the prominent Terra Kulture in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The book titled ‘A Very Good Bad Guy’- which was written by experienced entertainment media professional; Mr Ayeni Adekunle of Black House Media- draws from personal experiences and interviews from those close to the father of six.
The event was well attended by the entertainment industry’s heavyweight especially new mother; Tiwa Savage and husband Tunji ‘Tee Billz’ Balogun.
The book which has been applauded by critics is a full testament and confirmation of the African queen hit maker’s legendary status in the Nigerian music scene.
3. Khloe opts to remain Mrs Odom after Lamar’s near-death experience
Social media shook with comments on Thursday, October 20, as Khloe and Lamar Odom confirmed their marriage was still on after they had called off their divorce by withdrawing the papers from the court through Khloe’s legal representative.
Fans of the couple might have sensed the shocking announcement coming, after she didn’t show up at Kim’s birthday during the week and reports emerged that she had opted out of their popular TV reality show; Keeping up with the Kardashians.
Mixed reactions have trailed the couple’s announcement especially Khloe Kardashian’s ‘new’ ex and Houston Rockets basketball player; James Harden. The NBA star was apparently a bit furious and couldn’t hold it as he posted he a video of him rapping to Drake and Future’s Jersey with the words ’You do what you want when you poppin’ referring to the Kardashian beauty.
4. Adele announces first album in 4 years, as first single ‘Hello’ smashes records
British born singing sensation, Adele surprised fans with the announcement of her 3rd album after 3 years.
The album titled ‘25’ is an 11 track album which is a follow up to her highly successful album ‘21’. It is scheduled for release on November 20.
She release a single off the album titled Hello and later dropped the video on Friday which has so far, gotten over 11 million views.
5. Meek Mill disses Wale over Drake comment
This got a lot of people talking as Meek Mill rained fire and brimstone on label mate and rapper; Wale, in an angry Instagram post on Thursday.
This came as a result of an interview Wale granted earlier that day on a morning radio show where the Washington D.C born rapper aired his views about the Drake and Meek Mill fight.
He was quoted saying: “I honestly think he brought a pencil to a gunfight. He ain’t even bring a knife –a pencil. A piece of paper. He tried to paper cut him to death”.
Meek Mill was infuriated and he went guns blazing at Wale. He called him miserable, jealous and broke. Meek said Wale was no more part of the Maybach Music Family.
Wale responded humorously, as label boss Rick Ross also came out to quash the possibility of Wale leaving the group.
