With such a high amount of sugar, your body pumps out extra insulin which leads to an even bigger sugar crash. This also leaves you hungry soon after your breakfast.

1. Doughnut and Pastries

Forget about the calories (almost around 300-600calories), but the insane amount of sugar(50-70 grams) in each is the real problem. With such a high amount of sugar, your body pumps out extra insulin which leads to an even bigger sugar crash. This also leaves you hungry soon after your breakfast. It’s a vicious cycle of unhealthy eating that starts with the very first doughnut or a pastry.

2. Sweet Cereals

Although cereals are a great way to get your daily dose of fibers, what you need to avoid are the ones that are filled with sugar and have zilch nutritional value. The sugar not only makes weight loss difficult but also drains your energy. If you do opt for a cereal, check the ingredients list and choose a high-fiber one that is low in sugar.

3. Processed Meat

And it includes bacon, hams and sausages.  The common staples of a big weekend breakfast are also common staples for heart disease, increased cholesterol levels and strokes. What you need for a healthy breakfast are actually lean proteins that are good for your overall health and also help you stay full until lunch time. Chicken and eggs are a few sources of lean proteins that can replace bacon or sausage patties on your breakfast plate.

4. Pancakes

Sorry guys, but there is no healthy option when it comes to pancakes. They are a mixture of fattening flour, eggs, butter and sugar- and are therefore not healthy at all. And that’s not even mentioning the toppings. Once you get into the realms of maple syrup, powdered sugar or whipped cream, the calories skyrocket.

5. Ready-to-drink Juices

Unless these are homemade or freshly made, they are likely to be high in calories, low in fiber and with almost no nutritional value. Bottled juices, which are factory made and mass produced, have added sugar and are just as bad as drinking a soda for breakfast. So, you’re better of eating fruits instead of drinking them.
