“Tompolo is humble and respectful” | 7 important things you didn’t read yesterday (but should have)

1. OAU student leader in trouble over New York trip

Akande only wanted to go to America, but he never guessed it would get him suspended from his job.

His crime- ‘soliciting for funds for personal use from the school management’.

The President of the Student Union in Obafemi Awolowo University, Omotayo Akande, has been suspended for begging for N650,000‎ to attend an International Campus Conference at New York, United State of America.

2. Thugs attack like-minds during prayer session

Some hoodlums are so unruly, that they would attack like-minds while in the middle of prayer.

When a union leader, who is naturally surrounded by thugs, gets attacked by thugs- Karma and Boomerang comes to mind.

The Chairman of Osogbo Progressive Union, Alhaji Akeem Woleola and several others, recently suffered machete cuts from about 70 hoodlums.

3. Oshodi may soon be safe again

Miscreants, hoodlums and thugs are being flushed out of Oshodi… but to where?

Lagos State Special Task Force is responsible for the arrests of 93 of these unruly elements from Oshodi and other similar areas in the state.

Perhaps, Oshodi may be safe again sometime soon.

4. Senior ghost worker made N17m in 9 years

When you’ve successfully been a ghost worker for 9 years, you deserve some recognition.

Martin Ugwu Okpe, the infamous fake doctor, is perhaps one of the most successful ghost workers in Nigeria- we agree.

Having impersonated his friend to work in the Ministry of Health since 2006, Okpe is expected to pay back N17,024,017.90 in salaries and allowances.

5. Saraki trying to pull a Dogara

Speaker, Yakubu Dogara knew no peace, no rest, until he agreed for Femi Gbajabiamila to become Majority Leader.

Following in his footsteps is Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who is said to be wooing Senator Ahmed Lawan’s supporters with attractive committee positions.

In spite of the recent vote of confidence passed on him by his colleagues, it appears Saraki still knows no peace.. and rest.

6. EFCC convicts 1,000 thieves in 12 years

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says it has convicted an average of 83 people yearly since formation, in 2003.

In a country of over 150 million people, where about half of the population are corrupt, that’s pretty underwhelming, EFCC!

Hopefully, now that the anti-corruption crusade is in full force, EFCC can do better.

7. Tompolo is humble and respectful

Niger-Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, a.k.a Tompolo, has been described as humble, soft-spoken and respectful.

No matter how ironic that may be perceived, the Dein of Agbor feels otherwise.

He tells the story of how he met with Asari Dokubo and Tompolo, and says Nigerians should not judge them until they meet them.
