It’s the close of another eventful season and memorable is what we will theme a year filled with plenty of lights, tons of cameras and a truck load of action, with the many rise and rise of events that were all about being fabulous. These kinds of lists will always be controversial – so here-in, my attempt of a few of those events we look forward to in 2013. ise Magazine Fashion Week
Recorded to be the biggest fashion week in Africa. An event that hosts the crème of the crop in the fashion community to a week lined up with plethora of trends, style and surprises! Speaking of surprises, we will love to see Tyra Banks (who was just featured on the cover of the most recent edition of Arise) walk that runway in 2013.
Elite Model Look Nigeria
A Fierce Competition put together by Nigeria’s leading model scout, Beth Model Management and Elite, an internationally recognized model agency around fashion’s major capitals. It would be the dream of another model come to fruition in 2013 when the Elite Crew will host a fresh pack of familiar runway breeds through a process of grooming till a winner emerges. Fashionistas and Styloholics are garnered in their full fashion arsenals which is another reason why we look forward to this event next year.
With the rapid rise of new talents and major hit tracks topping the chat lists, it will be another rewarding year to look forward to for game changers in the music industry, who have proven their worth in depth and delivery. We can’t take out the glitz and glamour from the Headies and it’s all about stepping into the spotlight!
The Movie Premier of Dr. Bello
2012 premiered movies like, I’ll Take My Chances, The Meeting, Phone Swap, Journey to Self and Last Flight to Abuja. While some had good reviews and some didn’t, we won’t deny same about the fashion on their red carpets.
Staring Nollywood and Hollywood¹s finest, this is a premier we can’t wait to view the content and irresistible high definition fashion from our fashion savvy crowd! Dr Bello features the A-list acting skills of Isaiah Washington, Genevieve Nnaji, Vivica Fox, Rachel Oniga, Stephanie Linus, Jide Kosoko and Olumide Bakare. A must see in 2013.
MTN Lagos Fashion and Design Weekend
Skip the after parties and the social pictures, it¹s the fashion shows and runway that breathe life into every fashion week with each collection having the potential to turn on or just turn us off. Another big fashion week fast making a headlines and presence on Nigeria¹s fashion scene is a must look forward to, most especially for budding new talents. MTNLFDW provides fashion entrepreneurs that needed platform to grow, allowing access to international Press and Buyers (Selfridges inclusive).
With everything short of FAB elements at the 2012 FAB awards, FAB night out stays an event to look forward to in 2013 only that we hope FAB will make an awesome come back and live up to its name not offering us more bad fashion than the number of nominations.
Music Meets Runway
Debuted in 2011, an event where it¹s all fashion with a mix and blend of live music from the industries finests with Designers collections going off and on the runway and models bringing their essence to life. MMR is fast breaking grounds and hopefully here to stay.
The Future Awards
Every other year since 2010, we’ve raised a glass to the past, we’ve made a toast to the present and always cheering at a brighter future, hopefully that it beams a beacon of hope to the next generation and guess what, we’re not about to stop! Leaving the glitz and glamour on the red carpet, we look forward to celebrate the Next Big Thing in diverse industries. There’s so much to look forward to cause each year comes with a twist on lined up activities.
