These are the top ten stories that drove conversation this week.

1. 2017 BET Awards

The awards held on Monday, 26, Nigeria’s Wizkid won Best International Artiste, Africa, for the second time in a row.

2. President Buhari and his message from the UK 

President Muhammadu Buhari sent a  message from the UK, where he is currently receiving treatment on the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitr on Sunday, June 25.

When criticisms came from different quarters, the Presidency released a voice version of it, where it was confirmed that the President used Hausa Language to address Nigerians.

That message received different reactions.

Senator Shehu Sani supported the president. Other reactions came from:

Reuben Abati, Femi Fani-Kayode.

3. Senator Dino Melaye and his constituents

The recall drama of Dino Melaye and his constituents continued this week.

It continued with INEC stating that the recall process would continue notwithstanding the Senator’s attempt to halt the process through a lawsuit.

In reaction, Melaye used spirituality as a tool to accuse Gov Bello of leading dead people to sign the petition for his recall.

Later this week, about 18 constituents came out with a lawsuit to end the INEC recall, saying they were deceived.

4. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire goes off air, after 13 years

Frank Edoho’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (WWTBAM) has gone off air temporarily, as the sponsors, MTN withdrew their sponsorship.

In reaction, social media went ablaze, brooding over the show that has touched many lives.

5. Nnamdi Kanu continued…

This week started with APGA asking IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu to stop acting like the voice of the Igbos.

In another development, thousands of Pro-Biafran gathered at Kanu’s house to support him.

Kanu also stated that agitations would continue until the FG bows to their demands.

Ohanaeze youth also asked Kanu to stop making ‘provocative statements.

His own community have also spoken out, saying they disown any separatist agitations but would prefer restructuring.

6. Fahola vs The National Assembly

The back and forth accusation started with the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola accusing NASS of cutting the budget of the Lagos-Ibadan road, which he said would affect payment to the contractors.

NASS replied, asking the Minister to stop making false accusations, questioning why he didn’t utilize the money disbursed from the 2016 budget.

In reply, Fashola said he was ‘surprised’ that the legislature could not differentiate budget and cash.

NASS replied again, asking the Minister to stop spreading half truths.

7. Tonto Dikeh and her husband

After months of social media exchange, Nigerian actress, Tonto Dikeh and her hubby, Olakunle Churchill, officially got separated and the bride price returned.

The actress later said the bride price was returned for formality, as she paid her bride price herself.

8. ASUU and varsity fees increment

ASUU through a statement published by NAN had claimed that 38 universities had increased their fees.

It didn’t take long before the ASUU chairman, Ibadan, said the claims didn’t come from him as written in the statement.

9. Saraki and Sahara Reporters

The court asked Sahara Reporters to pay Senate President Bukola Saraki N4 billion lawsuit for libelous article published by the news site.

He also said he must collect the money.

10. Evans turns the table…

Evans the kidnapper has slammed a N300 million lawsuit on the Nigerian Police for illegal detention and violation of his human rights.
