BLOG: #InCaseYouMissedIt: I have no respect for Carl Lewis – Usain Bolt

After winning his fifth career Olympic Gold Medal, Usain Bolt voiced his dislike for an iconic nine-time USA Olympic Gold Medal sprinter, Carl Lewis, during a recent press conference. The self proclaimed “living legend” was candid in supporting his dislike for Lewis. ”Carl Lewis, I have no respect for himThe things he says about the track athletes are very downgrading. I think he’s just looking for attention because nobody really talks about him. I’ve lost all respect for him. All respect.

Bolt’s dislike for Lewis derives from comments Lewis made four years ago when Bolt took home three gold medals in Beijing China. Bolt’s drastic time drop from 10.3 seconds to 9.69 seconds in the 100 meters sprint prompted Lewis to question whether or not the Jamaican sprinter was using drugs. ”If you don’t question that in a sport that has the reputation it has right now, you’re a fool,” Lewis said. “Period.” Lewis’ suspicions may be arguably valid considering the three-month doping suspicion Bolt’s teammate, Yohan Blake, was placed on in 2009 after testing positive for a stimulant. When asked if he believes his team is “drug-free”, Bolt assuringly replied, “Without a doubt. We train hard. … We do our best to show the world we are clean.”
