So, you know the way it happens on twitter; someone suddenly finds a topic/subject matter good enough to tweet and in a short while, the whole family camps in his mentions either in support of or against the motion. I was scrolling through the TL a few days back when I found this rather interesting tweet from @JajaPhD that talked about how the death of Jesus on the cross can be classified as suicide.
See tweet below:
If you even think about it, you'll see that Jesus committed suicide. The bible says that he laid down his life.
Self sacrifice is suicide

The instant I saw the tweet, I had this Odunlade Adekola meme practically replicated on my face. Like, bros, how did you even think of this? Thankfully, the Jesus people weren’t on vacation as they either dropped memes, corrections, cautions, bible verses and some went all the way to start threads on their TL. And because there would always be a Judas, some others supported his motion. He even wrote a blog post to support his motion but, who cares?
[Did you miss]: “Opinion: How Jesus committed suicide”
Jesus didn’t commit suicide. That’s such a subtle attempt at belittling that painful sacrifice on the cross regardless of how intellectual you try to make this sound.
Call it sacrificial suicide or whatever name “woke twitter” provides for you, I still wouldn’t agree. The same way you don’t call an expensive gift bought for a friend, a loss regardless of the effect on your pocket is the same way you shouldn’t call what Jesus did on the cross, suicide. Wherever that thought came from, it should be “cast and bound into the lake of fire”. LOL
So, Mr Joseph Jaja, in the bid to analyse things intellectually, don’t trivialise and demean the death of Jesus on the cross. That’s the only lifeline we have.
No! Jesus did not commit suicide; argue with your bible.
