The last has not being heard about the case of Cynthia Osokogu, the post-graduate student of Nasarawa State University who was murdered in a hotel at Amuwo Odofin, Festac Town recently.
Reports say an unidentified model came forward, yesterday, claiming the suspects held in the murder case are serial offenders who have previously assaulted and dispossesed her of her belongings in an hotel also in Festac Town.
She was said to have arrived at the Headquarters of the Lagos State Command, Ikeja, yesterday afternoon demanding to speak only to the commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Manko. She was allowed to see the police boss who later directed her to the Area E Commander, Mr. Dan Okoro, so as to physically identify the accused.
The details of her ordeal are still sketchy, but the two suspects in the case, Echezona Nwabufor, 33, and his cousin, Ezekiel Nnechuwu Olisa Eloka, 23, were alleged to have lured the only daughter of Rtd. Gen. Frank Osokogu, to a hotel and killed her after beating and raping her, according to their confession to the police.
One of the suspects said in a statement on the alleged crime, “When she got to Lagos, we took her to a hotel in Festac. We thought she had a lot of money, but she said she didn’t have any money. We gave her Reflon tablet in her Ribena drink. After this, we slept with her for 12 hours in that hotel.
“When we didn’t get any money from her, we tied her mouth and strangled her and then we abandoned her in the hotel and fled.”
The police commissioner confirmed the unidentified victim’s visit yesterday and urged others who might have had a similar experience with the accused men to come forward and give their statements.
He said: “Other victims are advised to show up so that if there is any need to expand our investigation, we will do so.”
We will bring you details as they come.
