CCT Chairman recommends return of Buhari’s oppressive law

The Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar, has recommended for the return of Decree No. 2, a military law that unfairly punishes journalists.

The CCT chairman said this at the false asset declaration trial of Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

“If not that we are under a democratic setting, I would have advocated for the retention of Decree No. 2.”

Decree No. 2 is a law passed by the military administration of General Muhammadu Buhari.

The Decree gave the Chief of Staff at Supreme Headquarters the power to detain anyone considered to be a security risk for up to six months.
