The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is reportedly on the trail of former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, over his involvement in the $115 million election bribery scandal – allegedly orchestrated by former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Allison-Madueke
The EFCC had last week invited the Managing Director of Fidelity bank, Nnamdi Okonkwo, to answer questions on the disbursement of the said money.
Okonkwo is alleged to have been working on the behest of Allison-Madueke, who had forced top players in the oil industry to fund the re-election bid of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Okonkwo, in his confession to the EFCC, had allegedly said that he was working under the instructions of Peter Obi, who is the former and youngest chairman of the bank.
After his tenure as Anambra state governor, Obi had decamped from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was known for having a close relations with the former president.
