Cesc Fabregas was the star of the game between Chelsea and Leicester City.
The Spanish midfielder scored twice to secure a 4-2 victory for Antonio Conte’s men.
Leicester took the lead through Shinji Okazaki in the 17th minute. The Japanese made it two in the 34th minute.
Chelsea pulled one back at the stroke of half time through Gary Cahill. Chelsea’s equaliser came off the boots of Cesar Azpilicueta.
The game was decided in extra time by two well taken goals from Fabregas.
Arsenal put up a beautiful performance as they hit four goals past Nottingham Forest.
The gunners had new boys Granit Xhaka and Lucas Perez to thank.
Xhaka scored a screamer from 30 yards in the first half. Perez added two more goals, while Oxlade Chamberlain topped it up with a fourth in the 90th minute.
Liverpool scored three and kept a clean sheet against hosts Derby County.
The Reds took the lead in the 24th minute when Ragnar Klavan slot him from a Phillipe Coutinho corner kick.
Liverpool made it two when Coutinho plated a low shot to the bottom corner in the 50th minute.
Divock Origi settled the tie in the 54th minute with a beautiful goal as he hit the top left hand corner of Derby’s goal post.
