Wizkid, Davido, Jidenna makes Forbes Africa Top 10 Richest Musicians 

Forbes Africa’s list of Most Bankable African musicians is out and four Nigerian artistes have been named on the list.

Don Jazzy ranked fourth on the list, Jidenna sixth, followed by Wizkid then Davido.

Also on the list are Senagalese-born American singer, Akon who topped the list, Ghana’s Sarkodie and South Africa’s Black Coffee and Hugh Masekela.

Wizkid reacts to interview clip where he claimed to hold free shows in Nigeria

A clip from Wizkid’s recently released interview with the BBC went viral yesterday for all the wrong reasons.

In the 15-second clip, Wizkid claimed his love for his Nigerian fans is the reason he does free shows or sometimes charge one dollar back home.

Later in the day, a Twitter user shared a longer video that showed the context of Wizkid’s statement.

Although Wizkid maintained silence throughout the episode, he finally acknowledged this tweet saying: “Lol i actually was not going to say anything abt this but at least its good to know we still have some sensible people on here! Bless up!

 

 

Celine Dion to perform “My Heart Will Go On” at Billboard Music Awards

Epic romance movie, Titanic is 20 years already! Can you believe that?

Singer Celine Dion who originally performed the movie’s soundtrack “My Heart Will Go On” will be paying tribute to the 20th anniversary of Titanic by performing the Oscar-winning ballad at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards on May 21.

In a statement, Dion said, “This song means a lot to me, and it has played such a huge role in my career. I’m so grateful to the late James Horner, and to Will Jennings, for writing it and creating the opportunity for me to be part of Titanic, an amazing film whose legacy will continue for generations to come. It’s a great honor to have the opportunity to perform it on the Billboard Music Awards’ international stage, in celebration of the film’s 20th anniversary”.

Yemi Alade to replace 2Baba as coach on The Voice Nigeria 

Reality singing competition, The Voice Nigeria is set to return for its second season and award-winning songstress, Yemi Alade will be joining the show as a coach.

Yemi Alade will be replacing 2face ‘2Baba’ Idibia, one of the coaches on the first season who has left “to pursue other commitments”.

Speaking on the new addition, Director, MNet Africa, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu said, “Yemi Alade is widely recognised as one of Nigeria’s biggest musical exports…Not only is she an amazing vocalist, Yemi is also recognised for her energetic and entertaining performances on stage. We are thrilled to have her join The Voice and we cannot wait for the contestants and our viewers to experience her on the show”.
