The All Progressives Congress has described Saturday’s local government elections in Katsina State as “drama and waste of resources”.

The state APC Chairman, Alhaji Mutapha Inuwa, while speaking in Katsina on Sunday, said that the elections were not conducted in conformity with the provisions of Electoral Act, adding that “no local government elections were conducted in Katsina State as far as APC is concerned”.

“We decided to go to court to challenge the processes and conduct of the election; therefore, we did not participate in the election because it is just a drama and waste of resources,” he said.

Also speaking on the turn out of the election, the state Chairman of the National Conscience Party (NCP), Alhaji Abdulmumini Sani, said that the voters’ register was not updated before the election.

According to him, the NCP was not given enough time to prepare for the elections as it was only consulted on the closing date for submission of names of candidates to the commission.

Sani said the party was ready to take legal action on the issue to avoid future re-occurrence.
