[The Film Blog] What exactly is happening on #SGIT Season 2?

No, seriously. Watch this clip we took from today’s episode of Ndani TV’s hit web series, Skinny Girl in Transit and tell us you aren’t wondering too.

Although what happened after this was not quite what we thought it would be, it raised our eyebrows high enough to have us wondering what the showrunners were gunning for.

It’s the same question we asked ourselves after the first episode of the latest season. Especially the bit where the lead act, Tiwa checks herself out, smiling ear to ear long enough to have had us thinking her love interest, Mide had popped the question but the moment passed without a proper resolution. We cannot think of any other reason why that happened except to play out Tiwa and Mide’s relationship, as YNaija’s Tolu put it last week,  “perfect but we’re genuinely worried it may be too good to be true.”

[In case you missed it: Skinny Girl in Transit 4 is back]

Another thought that crossed our minds watching this week’s bit of “unnecessary dramatics” is that there is a possibility the Nigerian community of filmmakers have reached an agreement to start to introduce the reality of the sex lives of young Nigerians into their productions.

For example, we sort of gasped when RED TV’s Our Best Friend’s Wedding went there by introducing a sex toy – and it was used by a woman – without any warning or what we’d call any serious reason to, at least as far as the plot of that show goes.

This time, on Ndani’s #SGIT, we are being teased about oral sex – and one performed on a woman and not in the boudoir! We could only ever expect to see such things played out by our favourite Hollywood stars.

Of course, this is no complaint. We are just wondering.

Or are we the ones overanalyzing this?

Tell us what you think in the comments please.
