A driver in Oyo has been arrested after he was accused of locking a  police officer in his car.

Sunday Oladele,41, was arraigned before a Magistrate court in Ibadan, the state capital after he was alleged to have locked up the woman in a bid to resist arrest.

According to the prosecutor, Seargent Foluke Adedosu, the suspect is facing a one count charge of resisting arrest.

Eagle Online reports:

Adedosu alleged that Oladele committed the crime on November 11 at 8.30am in Idi Ape area of Ibadan.

She explained that the defendant drove the policewoman to Bashorun area of Ibadan in his car, when the officer attempted to arrest him while driving his Toyota Camry car, with Reg. No. OY 71-14.

According to the prosecutor, Oladele drove away with policewoman, Roseline Ajala, and locked her up in the car before the accused was eventually apprehended.

Adedosu told the court that the offence was contrary to the Criminal Code of Oyo state.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Chief Magistrate Adams Adeshina admitted him to bail for N20,000, with one reliable surety.
Adeshina adjourned the case to December 23 for further hearing.
