Hajiya Hauwa-Belli Manu- the mother of Haruna Manu- the Deputy Governor of Taraba, has been abducted.
The kidnap was confirmed on Tuesday morning by the Taraba state Police Command.
According to the police spokesperson, Joseph Kwaji, the elderly woman was seized on Monday by gunmen from the family home of the deputy governor.
Kwaji said the kidnappers have not yet communicated with the family members while adding that the police has deployed additional detectives to the area to assist in tracking the culprits.
Chairman of the Gassol Local Goverment area of the state, Alhaji Tukura Bashir, also confirmed the abduction of the deputy governor’s mother.
Bashir further revealed that one person was killed as the gunmen shot indiscramintely into the air, as they made away with their victim.
