The issue of gender-based violence toward women and every other injustice that women experience will always be something of interest for both genders.
As more and more people are now open to the idea of coming out and talking about their experiences, the world is now paying close attention to these issues. In a new trend that explore the Greek mythological gods and goddess, many people are now relating these epic stories to modern-day activities and ideas.
Medusa, according to Greek Mythology, is a goddess with snakes on her hair which replaced her original hair, she has the ability (out of her control) to turn men to stones, something she wasn’t able to do before because before she was caused by another goddess.
Medusa was raped by Poseidon in Athena’s Temple. As means of protection, Athena gave Medusa the ability to turn men to stone, so that something like this would never happen again. Medusa is supposed to be a protector of women.

In pop culture which has been influenced by the Greek Mythology, Medusa is always portrayed as the bad guy, a monster and an enemy of men. However, people are challenging and changing the narrative as they have expressed that Medusa was a victim of rape by a male entity and a victim of power abuse by a jealous female entity. These narratives are tackling the ideas of putting blame on the victims of abuse, especially if they are women and also calling on women to support each other, and ignore their differences.
Athena and Poseidon were the villains! Not Medusa. This would be a cool concept tho. I'll dig it pic.twitter.com/liATOoDuko

So you're telling me I grew up thinking that Medusa was the bad guy ONLY TO SEE that Poseidon raped her and Athena didn't do shit all because she was jealous and that's why she gave Medusa the snake hair pic.twitter.com/xkUUXlb3hL

Athena was jealous of Medusa because it was said she was as beautiful as Athena, so she gave Medusa a proposition that required her to be Pure or else she’d be cursed with snakeheads for hair??

The Medusa trend is one global trend that is challenging the narrative and calling for a world where rapists are prosecuted and not protected, where women support each other and look forward to the progress of other women, in business, politics, and every work of life.
Medusa has always been painted as the evil one. In pop culture, movies have placed her as the enemy, but people are calling on a change because they believed that she is not only a victim but also a survivor.
