How Timipre Sylva was abandoned by APC governors

The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Bayelsa state, Timipre Sylva, will be smarting from the absence of key party members at the inauguration of his campaign council.

Sylva became governorship candidate of the APC in controversial and violence-ridden circumstances, which culminated in a war of words with Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole.

At the event which took place on Monday, six out of seven governors schedlued to attend the campaign inauguration never showed up.

Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima, Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Zamfara State governor, Abdulaziz Yari, all failed to attend.

The indication from the non-attendance of the governors, is that Sylva may be on his own, ahead of the December 5 governorship election.

But the absence of his peers wasn’t the only embarrassment suffered by Sylva on the day.

The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Timi Frank, who is a Bayelsa indigene, rejected his membership of the campaign council.

Similarly, Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole who is the chairman of the council was a no-show.

Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, Deputy chairman, was the only one in attendance, alongside party chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun.
