“I apologise often womanise” | Jay-Z confirms he cheated on Beyonce on new album 4.44

Jay-Z released his 13th studio album, 4.44 via his music streaming company, Tidal on Friday.

The album has turned out to be a response to his wife, Beyonce’s 2016 album, Lemonade where she gave away details of his infidelity referencing the elevator episode that saw her sister, Solange physically launch at Jay-Z. Beyonce even went as far as naming the anonymous woman “Becky with the good hair” leaving the rest of the world to guess who must have been frolicking with Jay. Bey sang, “This is your final warning / You know I give you life / If you try this shit again / You gon’ lose your wife.”

The rapper who was recently inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame used a number of tracks on the 10-track album to confirm his cheating rumours and also reveal other personal details of his life, marriage to Beyonce and the guilt of his children finding out about his infidelity.

Here are some of the lines where Jay-Z referenced all the issues:

You egged Solange on, knowing all along all you had to say you was wrong / You almost went Eric Benet, let the baddest girl in the world get away … I don’t even know what you woulda done, in the future, other niggas playing football with your son

Here, he acknowledged the Solange altercation and admits the situation would not have occurred if he had not lied about his cheating. He also referenced Halle Berry’s ex-husband, Eric Benet who she divorced for cheating.

I apologize often womanize / Took for my child to be born / See through a woman’s eyes / Took for these natural twins to believe in miracles / Took me too long for this song / I don’t deserve you.”

He apologized for cheating on his wife, told of how the birth of his first child, Blue Ivy opened his eyes to a new level of maturity and how his new twins have helped him to believe in miracles.

I still mourn this death/I apologize for all the stillborns/ ‘Cause I wasn’t present your body wouldn’t accept it.

Beyonce suffered a miscarriage in 2011 and here, Hov blames his emotional absence and womanizing for a situation that could have been avoided.

Yeah, I’ll f— up a good thing if you let me / Let me alone, Becky / A man that don’t take care of his family can’t be rich / I’ll watch ‘Godfather,’ I missed that whole shit.

Jay-Z attempts to use these lines to distance himself from Becky, the anonymous woman he has an affair with.

And if my children knew, I don’t even know what I would do / If they ain’t look at me the same / I would probably die with all the shame

Hov is ashamed his family had to suffer an avoidable fate thanks to his mistakes and he’s worried of what would happen if his children ever found out about him screwing around.
